It's Been One Year

It’s hard to believe that this coming Thursday marks the one year anniversary since I quit smoking cigarettes! After smoking for over twenty years, something finally clicked in my brain and gave me the strength, determination and will power to quit for good. Like so many others, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, so reaching this milestone is a BIG deal to me.

Check out these statistics. Since I quit my pack a day habit;

I did NOT smoke 7,300 cigarettes
I saved 58,400 minutes, or 40 days (average 8 minutes to smoke each cigarette)
I have saved over $1,825.00
Statistics show I should add an average of 6 years to my life by quitting now
Of course, I greatly reduce my chance of getting cancer or lung/heart disease

I’ve quit before, but it was always for the wrong reasons and I would eventually go back. This time it was because I wanted to quit. I didn’t plan it three months in advance, I just woke up November 1, 2006 and decided that I was done smoking. Of course it may have had a little to do with the fact that I just got back from Vegoose and a week of hard partying in Las Vegas with the smoky casinos and stinky hotel rooms.

There were plenty of sleepless nights, panic attacks and near homicides. I tried the help of patch the gum and pills, but whatever it was that helped me get past all those cravings, I am eternally grateful. Now, I just have to decide what I should reward myself with?
