I had quite a busy weekend. My Mom finally got to San Diego so we could celebrate her 6oth birthday with her. Since she moved out to North Carolina about 8 years ago, I don't get to see her nearly enough. Every visit is special, but this one was extra special since her 60th birthday is a great reason to have a party!
On Friday night we rented a beach side deluxe suite at the Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Beach. Mom and her group of friends discovered dancing on the Bahia Belle Harbor Cruise many years ago when B-Natural started playing there. Mike and Lisa have since become dear friends and I was thrilled to learn they are still playing music there every weekend.
I hosted a little cocktail party in the suite before everyone boarded the Bahia Belle. We had a couple of hours to catch up with everyone and have a few drinks, then it was dancing time.
I made Mom wear a "too sexy for 60" hat and a silly lei with flashing lights so everyone knew she the party girl. It's not that she likes to be the center of attention, but she does like to have fun! She can still dance all night long and she looks fabulous, I want to be just like her!
On Saturday night, my brother and his wife had a birthday dinner party at their home. Roxana always goes all out and puts out a beautiful spread, and this was no exception. She made a special Persian chicken and rice dish, and her to-die-for lasagna, so impressive and delicious!
It was great that so many of Mom's good friends and family made it out to help celebrate with us. Thank you all for being a part of this special weekend. It's always fun to get together to remember the old times as well as make new memories. Please click here to see the whole album.
